Elena Valassi, MD, PhD is endocrinology consultant at the Hospital General de Catalunya and clinical researcher at the “Research Centre for Pituitary Diseases”, Hospital Sant Pau, Barcelona (Spain). She received the “Juan de la Cierva” postdoctoral grant from the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness and was recently awarded a Health Care Research Fund Grant (FIS) from the Health Institute Carlos III. She is responsible for data quality of the European Registry of Cushing’s syndrome (ERCUSYN). After obtaining her medical degree and specialization in Endocrinology, she earned her PhD in Endocrinology and Metabolism from the University of Milan (Italy). She was predoc- and postdoctoral fellow at the Reproductive Endocrine Unit and Neuroendocrine Unit, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston (USA).
Her major research interests include long-term physical and psychological consequences of Cushing’s syndrome and acromegaly.
