Retinal Vein Occlusion (RVO) Guidelines - The Royal College of Ophthalmologists

This guideline update includes responses to the consultation in October 2021. It incorporates the impact of new imaging modalities and their findings on the management of retinal vein occlusion. The use of intravitreal agents in the management of retinal vein occlusion has been updated to reflect the increasing body of literature on its use along with the impact this treatment has on the natural history and complications of retinal vein occlusion.

The scope of the guidelines is limited to current diagnostic tools, management and service set-up and delivery to facilitate delivery of optimal clinical care pathways and management for patients with RVO. The guidelines are prepared primarily for ophthalmologists; however, they are relevant to other healthcare professionals, service providers and commissioning organisations as well as patient groups. The guidelines do not cover rare, complex, complicated or unusual cases.
