The 2016 update includes a complete revision of the section on diagnosis of asthma and a major update to the section on pharmacological management of asthma as well as revisions to the sections on supported self management, non-pharmacological management of asthma, management of acute asthma in adults and children, difficult asthma and organisation and delivery of care.

This guideline will be of interest to healthcare professionals involved in the care of people with asthma including general practitioners, consultants and specialists in respiratory medicine, nurses and pharmacists. It will also be of interest to people with asthma, their parents and carers; those who interact with people with asthma outside of the NHS, such as teachers; voluntary organisations with an interest in asthma; and those planning the delivery of services.
