Treatment of essential hypertension. Triapin fixed dose combination is indicated in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled on felodipine or ramipril alone.
Treatment of Parkinson's disease under the following conditions: - Initial treatment as monotherapy, in order to delay the introduction of levodopa. - In combination with levodopa, over the course of the disease, when the effect of levodopa wears off or becomes inconsistent and fluctuations in the therapeutic effect occur ("end of dose" or "on-off" type fluctuations).
Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, particularly in overweight patients, when dietary management and exercise alone does not result in adequate glycaemic control. Metformin prolonged-release tablets may be used as monotherapy or in combination with other oral antidiabetic agents, or with insulin. For study results with respect to effects on glycaemic control and diabetic complications, (see section 5.1).
Vecicom Prolonged-release Tablets are indicated for the management of severe chronic pain in adults, which can be adequately managed only with opioid analgesics.
Nevirapine is indicated in combination with other anti-retroviral medicinal products for the treatment of HIV-1 infected adults, adolescents, and children three years and above and able to swallow tablets (see sections 4.2 and 4.4.). Prolonged-release tablets are not suitable for the 14-day lead-in phase for patients starting nevirapine. Other nevirapine formulations, such as immediate-release tablets or oral suspension should be used (see section 4.2). Most of the experience with nevirapine is in combination with nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs). The choice of a subsequent therapy after Nevirapine should be based on clinical experience and resistance testing (see section 5.1).
