Welcome to the PAD Management Knowledge Centre
Many patients admitted to an intensive care unit (ICU) require analgesia and sedation. This can promote patient comfort and safety ensuring their stay in the ICU is as comfortable as possible, while remaining capable of cooperation with therapy.
However, both inadequate and excessive treatment can be problematic. Skill, experience and familiarity with assessment and treatment of pain, agitation and delirium can help avoid or minimise many of the potential problems experienced by ICU patients.
This Knowledge Centre has been developed to provide the latest information on pain, agitation and delirium (PAD) management within the ICU including guidance on recommended assessment, prevention and treatment strategies for healthcare professionals (HCPs) treating patients in this setting.
