Today is International Stress Awareness Day (INSAD 2017). In London, the International Stress Management Association (ISMA) will host a Stress Fair (5-8pm) alongside a free online stress summit taking place between 9 and 5pm. The stress summit provides a platform for experts around the world to share their unique personal stories, experiences and expertise on the topic of stress.

Anyone can get involved in raising awareness around the issue of mental health, and, since one in four people will experience a mental health problem in their life time (Business in the Community 2016), it has never been more important to Speak Up and Speak Out about stress.

To mark INSAD, the ten commandments of relieving stress have been collated and are available to download:

Start living

  • Start to put yourself first
  • Start to prioritise tasks
  • Start to make time to relax and mentally unwind
  • Start to empathise with others
  • Start to live life to the full

Stop stressing

  • Stop ignoring your needs
  • Stop getting distracted
  • Stop allowing others to make you feel inferior
  • Stop being judgmental
  • Stop avoiding the things you least want to do

You can support the awareness with the hashtags #INSAD2017 and #internationalstressawarenessday
