FDA grants 510(k) approval for the Spotlight CT Cardiac Scanner.- GE HealthCare and Arineta Ltd.

Arineta Ltd has secured FDA approval on 19 August 2016 for its Spotlight CT Cardiac Scanner. SpotLight CT is a system designed specifically for cardiac imaging and is not a general purpose whole-body CT scanner.The Arineta design is intended drive out costs by eliminating aspects that are required for whole-body imaging but are irrelevant for cardiac scanning, while optimizing operation for a range of cardiac imaging procedures.

The capabilities of the SpotLight CT scanner include the Arineta-developed Focused Field of View, which directs the radiation to target only the heart while sparing nearby organs, and Twin Beam technology that uses two cone beams to take quick artifact-free pictures of the heart.

GE Healthcare, a unit of General Electric Company and Arineta Ltd.have a strategic partnership in the area of computed tomography (CT) for cardiovascular applications.
