ROCA blood test and UK Collaborative Trial of Ovarian Cancer Screening- Abcodia Ltd
The UK Collaborative Trial of Ovarian Cancer Screening (UKCTOCS) is an ovarian screening trial involving some 200 000 women and recent reports indicate that screening may reduce ovarian cancer mortality by an estimated 20% after a follow up period of up to 14 years. The ROCA test from Abcodia Ltd , used in the trial, analyses over a period of time, the blood protein CA-125 which is associated with ovarian cancer and assigns a woman’s level of risk which provides a more tailored picture of individual risk than a one-off blood test measuring a fixed point of time. The trial is ongoing and more data is needed to define with greater confidence the precise reduction of mortality that can be achieved.
