Professor Bryan Williams is Chair of Medicine at University College London (UCL), a member of the UCL Institute of Cardiovascular Science and a National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Senior Investigator. He is Director of the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre at UCL and Director of R&D for University College London Hospitals where he is also a consultant physician and specialist in hypertension.
Prof. Williams is past president of the British Hypertension Society 2001-2003, and chairman of the NICE hypertension guideline development group. He is chairman-elect of the ESC Council on Hypertension and chairman of the Hypertension Programme section for the ESC Congress. Prof. Williams was a recent recipient of the Peter Sleight Award from the European Society of Hypertension for an 'outstanding contribution to clinical practice, research and education in hypertension in Europe', and the Times Higher Education University Award for 'outstanding innovation and technology' for his work on methods for the non-invasive measurement of aortic pressure.
