What is considered a meal?

A meal should be defined in the patients diet plan. It normally consists of no less than 20% of the daily caloric intake, and not more than 40%. Due to the apparent relationship between glucose production and the amount of insulin secretion, the dosage of NovoNorm® should not vary with meal size.

Compared to sulphonylureas, patients that are treated with NovoNorm® have a reduced need for snacking between meals. There is also very little risk of hypoglycaemia should a meal be postponed or missed.
