Management of Cystic Fibrosis

Because CF is a multisystem disease, treatment must be multidisciplinary, with a team of healthcare professionals providing comprehensive management of the patient.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) accredits a network of CF centers where patients are regularly monitored by teams including pulmonologists, gastroenterologists, nurses, respiratory therapists, dietitians, psychologists, and social workers.18,27

Current therapy for CF is targeted at prevention and treatment of exacerbations. Care at the CF center includes inpatient as well as outpatient clinical care.28
