| Drug description : | Zamadol: white capsules. Zamadol SR: 50 mg green capsules; 100 mg white capsules; 150 mg dark green capsules; 200 mg yellow capsules. All sustained- release capsules marked TSR and capsule strength. Zamadol Injection: ampoules. |
| Presentation : | Zamadol: Tramadol hydrochloride 50 mg . Zamadol SR: Tramadol hydrochloride 50mg , 100mg , 150mg , 200mg . Zamadol Injection: Tramadol hydrochloride 50mg per mL. |
| Indications : | Moderate to severe pain. |
| Adult Dosage : | Zamadol: 1 or 2 capsules 4 - 6 hourly; maximum 8 daily. Zamadol SR: Initially 50 - 100 mg twice daily. If necessary, twice daily; maximum 400 mg daily. Zamadol Injection: 50 - 100 mg by intramuscular or slow intravenous injection four to six hourly; maximum 600 mg daily. |

| Contra Indications : | Pregnancy, lactation. |
| Special Precautions : | Elderly. Severe renal or hepatic impairment. Head injury, raised intracranial pressure. History of convulsions. Respiratory depression. History of drug dependence or abuse. |
| Interactions : | Alcohol, CNS depressants, MAOIs, carbamazepine, SSRIs, TCADs. |
| Adverse Reactions : | GI upset, CNS effects, allergic reactions, diaphoresis, urticaria, pruritus. Rarely, rash, respiratory depression, cardiovascular effects, flushing, syncope, anaphylaxis, convulsions, dependence, dysphoria, blood dyscrasias. |
