| Presentation : | Capsules, orlistat 120 mg . |
| Indications : | Adjunct to diet in obese patients with body mass index 30 kg/m 2 and greater, or body mass index 28 kg/m 2 and greater with associated risk factors. |
| Adult Dosage : | 1 capsule before, during or up to 1 hour after each main meal. Initiate treatment only if diet alone produces weight loss of at least 2 .5 kg in 4 weeks; discontinue after 12 weeks if 5 per cent of bodyweight is not lost. |
| Child Dosage : | Not recommended. |
| Contra Indications : | Chronic malabsorption, cholestatis. Pregnancy, lactation. |
| Special Precautions : | Advise diet rich in fruit and vegetables containing approximately 30 per cent calories from fat. |
| Interactions : | Acarbose, biguanides, antidiabetic agents, anorectic agents, anticoagulants, fat- soluble vitamins, cyclosporin. |
| Adverse Reactions : | Faecal incontinence, oily stools, GI upset, respiratory infection, influenza, headache, menstrual irregularity, anxiety, fatigue, UTI. |
