Drug details for : XYLOCAINE with ADRENALINE 1:80,000
 
Drug class description :  Local anaesthetics.
Generic Name :  Lidocaine [lignocaine], adrenaline [epinephrine]
Drug description :  Sterile clear aqueous solution for injection in cartridges for use in dental type syringes.
Presentation :  Injection, lidocaine hydrochloride 2%, adrenaline 1:80,000.
Indications :  For use in dental infiltration anaesthesia and all dental nerve block techniques.
Adult Dosage :  Infiltration - usual dose 1mL; nerve block- usual dose is 1.5 - 2mL. Recommended maximum dose for Xylocaine when given with adrenaline is 500mg.
Child Dosage :  Smaller doses required. Refer to Summary of Product Characteristics.
Contra Indications :  Known hypersensitivity to anaesthetics of the amide type. Anaesthesia of fingers, toes, tip of nose, ears and penis.
Special Precautions :  Epilepsy, impaired cardiac conduction, impaired respiratory function. Impaired hepatic function if dose or site of administration is likely to result in high blood levels. Facilities for resuscitation should be available during administration. Hypertension, cardiac disease, cerebrovascular insufficiency or thyrotoxicosis. Early pregnancy.
Interactions :  Tricyclic antidepressants, MAOIs, potent general anaesthetics.
Adverse Reactions :  Rare in dental practice. Refer to Summary of Product Characteristics.
