| Indications : | Lysis of clots in the following conditions: - thromboembolic occlusive vascular disease such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE), and peripheral vascular occlusion. - Hyphaema (haemorrhage into the anterior chamber of the eye). - Aterio-venous haemodialysis shunts and intravenous cannulae which are blocked by fibrin clots. |

| Contra Indications : | Any situation where bleeding has occurred, or is likely to occur. Recent surgery. Severe hypertension. Pregnancy and immediate post-partum period. Severe hepatic or renal Severe hepatic or renal insufficiency. Note: When used in 'local' situations these contraindications may not be relevant. |
| Special Precautions : | If bleeding occurs, stop infusion immediately. GI lesions. See data sheet. |
| Interactions : | Dextran sulphate. |
| Adverse Reactions : | Use in hyphaema: none reported. Use in arterio-venous shunts: warmth, initial severe pain and dull ache in shunt limb. Use in thromboembolic occlusive disease: overt bleeding, haemorrhagic complications. Occasionally, temporary increase in temperature and haematuria. |
