| Drug description : | Temgesic Tablets: 200 microgram, 400 microgram; white sublingual tablets marked with L or H and symbol. Temgesic Injection: ampoules. |
| Presentation : | Temgesic Tablets: Buprenorphine (as hydrochloride) 200 micrograms , 400 micrograms . Temgesic Injection: Buprenorphine (as hydrochloride) 300 micrograms per mL. |
| Indications : | Moderate to severe pain. |
| Adult Dosage : | Temgesic Tablets: 200 - 400 microgram sublingually 6 - 8 hourly or as required. Temgesic Injection: 300 - 600 microgram by intramuscular or slow intravenous injection 6 - 8 hourly or as required. |
| Child Dosage : | Temgesic Tablets: Under 16 kg, not recommended; 16 - 25 kg, 100 microgram; 25 - 37.5 kg, 100 - 200 microgram; 37.5 - 50 kg, 200 - 300 microgram. All sublingually 6 - 8 hourly or as required. Temgesic Injection: Under 6 months, not recommended; over 6 months, 3 - 6 microgram/kg 6 - 8 hourly. Maximum 9 microgram/kg. |
| Special Precautions : | Narcotic dependence or previous large doses of narcotics. Impaired respiratory or hepatic function, pregnancy, labour and lactation. |
| Interactions : | MAOIs or CNS depressants. |
