| Drug description : | Lyophilisate with diluent for intravenous infusion plus transfer needle. |
| Presentation : | Injection, human normal immunoglobulin 1g , 3g , 6g , 12g . |
| Indications : | Replacement therapy for primary and secondary immunodeficiency states including congenital agammaglobulinaemia and hypogammaglobulinaemia. Prophylaxis of recurrent bacterial infection in children with congenital AIDS. Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura. Kawasaki syndrome. Allogeneic bone marrow transplants. Guillain-Barre syndrome. |
| Adult Dosage : | Replacement therapy in primary immunodeficiency, initially a single dose of 400 - 800 mg/kg by intravenous infusion, then 200 mg/kg every 3 weeks. Replacement therapy in secondary Replacement therapy in secondary immunodeficiency, single dose of 200 - 400 mg/kg by intravenous infusion at 3 - 4 week intervals. Thrombocytopenic purpura, 800 - 1,000 mg/kg on day 1, repeated on day 3 if necessary or 400 mg/ kg daily for 2 - 5 consecutive days. Kawasaki disease, 1 .6 - 2 g/kg in divided doses over 2 - 5 days. Bone marrow transplant, initially 500 mg/kg per week. |
| Contra Indications : | Sensitised patients with selective Ig A deficiency with antibodies to Ig A. |
| Special Precautions : | Monitor creatinine levels and for signs of anaphylactoid reactions during infusion, for haemolysis and meningeal irritation. |
| Interactions : | Live viral vaccines. |
| Adverse Reactions : | Anaphylactoid reactions, delayed inflammatory reactions, headache, hyperthermia, nausea. Rarely, transient increases in creatinine levels, haemolysis, aseptic meningitis. |
