| Presentation : | Paramax Tablets: Paracetamol 500mg, metoclopramide hydrochloride 5mg. Paramax Sachets: Paracetamol 500mg, metoclopramide hydrochloride 5mg. |
| Indications : | Migraine. |
| Adult Dosage : | Tablets and sachets: Over 20 years, two at onset of attack, if necessary further doses may be taken at four-hourly intervals, maximum six in 24 hours. 12 - 19 years, one at onset of attack, maximum three in 24 hours. |
| Child Dosage : | Not recommended. |
| Contra Indications : | None known. |
| Special Precautions : | If vomiting persists the patient should be re-assessed to exclude the possibility of an underlying disorder, eg, cerebral irritation. Pregnancy (not advised during first trimester), lactation. Care should be exercised in patients being treated with other centrally active drugs eg. in epilepsy. Patients should not take Paramax with other paracetamol-containing products. Care should be exercised in the event of Paramax being prescribed concurrently with a phenothiazine since extra-pyramidal symptoms may occur with both products. The action of metoclopramide on the gastrointestinal tract is antagonised by anticholinergics. |
