| Presentation : | Injection, naloxone 400 microgram/1mL. Available from Faulding. |
| Indications : | Reversal of opioid depression, including that due to pentazocine and dextropropoxyphene. Diagnosis of acute opioid overdosage. Postoperatively following use of opioids in surgery. Neonatal respiratory depression resulting from obstetric analgesia. |
| Adult Dosage : | 0.4 - 2 mg by intravenous, intramuscular or subcutaneous injection every 2 - 3 minutes as required or by intravenous infusion; see data sheet. Post-operatively, 0 .1 - 0.2 mg intravenously repeated as required; see data sheet. |
| Child Dosage : | Neonates, 10 micrograms/kg by intravenous, intramuscular or subcutaneous injection repeated as required; others, 10 micrograms/kg by intravenous, intramuscular or subcutaneous injection repeated as required or by intravenous infusion; see data sheet. sheet. |
| Special Precautions : | Pregnancy (except in labour). Opioid dependence. Keep patient under observation as repeat doses may be needed. Cardiac problems. Patients receiving cardiotoxic drugs. |
| Adverse Reactions : | Nausea and vomiting. Rarely, seizures. |
