| Presentation : | Navoban Injection: Tropisetron (as hydrochloride) 1mg per mL . Navoban: Tropisetron (as hydrochloride) 5 mg . |
| Indications : | Prevention of nausea and vomiting Prevention of nausea and vomiting induced by chemotherapy. Prophylaxis and treatment of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV). |
| Adult Dosage : | Chemotherapy: Day one, 5 mg by slow intravenous injection or infusion shortly before chemotherapy, then 1 capsule each morning 1 hour before food for 5 days. Prophylaxis PONV: 2 mg by slow intravenous injection or infusion shortly before induction of anaesthesia. Treatment PONV: 2 mg by slow intravenous injection or infusion within 2 hours of the end of anaesthesia. |
| Child Dosage : | Chemotherapy: under 2 years, not recommended; over 2 years, 0.2 mg/kg by slow intravenous injection or infusion shortly before chemotherapy, maximum 5 mg daily. In children under 25kg, repeat intravenous administration on day 2 up to day 5 depending on chemotherapy regimen; in children over 25 kg, give 5 mg orally on day 2 up to day 6. |
| Contra Indications : | Pregnancy, lactation. |
| Special Precautions : | Uncontrolled hypertension, cardiac rhythm or conduction disturbances. |
| Interactions : | Drugs affecting liver enzymes or prolonging QT interval. |
| Adverse Reactions : | Headache, constipation, dizziness, fatigue, GI disturbance, hypersensitivity reactions. Rarely, collapse, syncope, bradycardia, cardiovascular arrest. |
