| Drug description : | Combination pack. Naproxen, yellow scored oblong tablets marked Searle N 500; misoprostol, white hexagonal scored tablets marked Searle 1461. |
| Presentation : | Tablets, naproxen 500mg (56 tablets); tablets, misoprostol 200 micrograms (56 tablets). |
| Indications : | Rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis where cytoprotection is required. |
| Adult Dosage : | One naproxen tablet and one misoprostol tablet taken together twice daily with food. |
| Child Dosage : | Not recommended. |
| Contra Indications : | Aspirin/anti-inflammatory induced allergy. Active gastric or duodenal ulcer. Pregnancy, lactation. |
| Special Precautions : | Pre-menopausal women should use effective contraception. Asthma. Renal or hepatic impairment, monitor on long term therapy; elderly. Cerebrovascular, coronary or peripheral vascular disease, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease. |
| Interactions : | Anticoagulants, hydantoins, sulphonylureas, quinolones, sulphonamides, diuretics, lithium, b-blockers, probenecid, methotrexate, cyclosporin, corticosteroids. |
| Adverse Reactions : | GI upset, diarrhoea, abdominal pain. Menorrhagia, vaginal bleeding. Skin and hypersensitivity reactions, headache, dizziness, tinnitus, vertigo, blood dyscrasias. |
