Drug details for : MAXOLON (dyspepsia)
 
Drug class description :  Antidopaminergics.
Generic Name :  Metoclopramide - gastrointestinal disorders
Drug description :  Maxolon Tablets: 5 mg white tablets; 10 mg white scored tablets marked MAXOLON. Maxolon Syrup: syrup. Maxolon Injection: ampoules. Maxolon SR: clear capsules marked MAXOLON SR 15, containing white sustained-release microgranules.
Presentation :  Maxolon Tablets: Metoclopramide hydrochloride 5mg , 10mg . Maxolon Syrup: Metoclopramide hydrochloride 5mg/5mL. Maxolon Injection: Metoclopramide hydrochloride 10mg per 2mL. Maxolon SR: Metoclopramide hydrochloride 15mg.
Indications :  Dyspepsia, flatulence, regurgitation of bile, heartburn and other symptoms of upper GI tract dysfunction.
Adult Dosage :  Maxolon Tablets and Syrup: Adults over 20 years: Under 60 kg, 5 mg three times daily; over 60 kg, 10 mg three times daily. Both maximum 0.5 mg/kg body weight daily. Maxolon SR: Over 20 years, 1 twice daily; maximum 0.5 mg/kg body weight daily. Maxolon Injection: Adults over 20 years: Under 60 kg, 5 mg three times daily by i.m. or slow i.v. injection; over 60 kg, 10 mg three times daily by i.m. or slow i.v. injection. Both maximum
Child Dosage :  Children and Young Adults : Not applicable.
Special Precautions :  Recent GI surgery, prolactin- dependent breast carcinoma, phaeochromocytoma, epilepsy, renal or hepatic impairment. Pregnancy, lactation.
Interactions :  Anticholinergics, phenothiazines, butyrophenones.
Adverse Reactions :  Extrapyramidal reactions, neuroleptic malignant syndrome. Raised serum prolactin. Drowsiness, diarrhoea.
