| Drug description : | Yellow scored oblong f-c tablets, 300 mg white scored oblong f-c tablets. Both marked ROCHE and tablet strength. |
| Presentation : | Tablets, moclobemide 150 mg , 300mg . |
| Indications : | Major depression. Social phobia. |
| Adult Dosage : | Depression, initially 300 mg daily in divided doses, after meals; maximum 600 mg daily. Social phobia, 300 mg daily for three days, then 600 mg daily in 2 divided doses for 8 - 12 weeks. Then assess. |
| Child Dosage : | Not recommended. |
| Contra Indications : | Acute confusional states, phaeochromocytoma. |
| Special Precautions : | Severe hepatic impairment, thyrotoxicosis. Patients with excitation or agitiation as predominant feature or schizophrenia. Pregnancy, lactation. Avoid excessive amounts of tyramine rich food. |
| Interactions : | Pethidine, selegiline, 5-HT reuptake inhibitors, tricyclic and tetracyclic antidepressants, trazodone, tyramine, cimetidine, morphine, fentanyl, ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, phenylpropanolamine, dextromethorphan. |
| Adverse Reactions : | Sleep disturbances, agitation, restlessness, irritability, dizziness, headache, paraesthesia, dry mouth, visual disturbances, nausea, diarrhoea, constipation, vomiting, oedema, states. |
