| Presentation : | Keflex Capsules: Cefalexin monohydrate 250 mg . Keflex Tablets: Cefalexin monohydrate 250 mg . Keflex Suspension: Cefalexin monohydrate 125 mg , 250 mg per 5 mL. |
| Indications : | Treatment of following infections due to susceptible micro- organisms: respiratory tract and soft tissue infections; bone and joint infections; genito- urinary tract infections, including acute prostatitis; dental infections. |
| Adult Dosage : | 1 - 4 g daily in divided doses. Usual dose, 500mg every eight hours. Skin and soft tissue infections, streptococcal pharyngitis and mild, uncomplicated urinary tract infections, usual dosage is 250mg every six hours or 500mg every 12 hours. |
| Child Dosage : | 25 - 50 mg/kg (10 - 20mg/lb) daily in divided doses. For most infections the following doses are suggested: under five years, 125mg every eight hours; over five years, 250mg every eight hours. |
| Elderly Dosage : | As for adults. Reduce dose if renal function is markedly impaired. |
| Contra Indications : | Known hypersensitivity to cephalosporins. |
| Special Precautions : | Hypersensitivity to penicillins. Renal insufficiency. |
| Interactions : | Loop diuretics. |
| Adverse Reactions : | Hypersensitivity reactions. GI disturbances. Also, genital and anal pruritus, genital candidiasis, vaginal discharge and vaginitis, dizziness, fatigue, headache, agitation, confusion, hallucinations, arthralgia, arthritis and joint disorder. |
