Drug details for : KEFADOL
 
Drug class description :  Cephalosporins.
Generic Name :  Cefamandole
Drug description :  Powder in vial.
Presentation :  Powder for injection, cefamandole (as nafate) 1 g.
Indications :  Infections of the lower respiratory tract, genito-urinary tract, bones and joints, bloodstream (septicaemia), skin and soft tissue, gall bladder and peritoneum, and pelvic inflammatory disease in women, when due to susceptible micro- organisms.
Adult Dosage :  500 mg - 2 g intramuscularly or intravenously four to eight hourly; maximum 12 g daily.
Child Dosage :  Under 1 month, not recommended; over 1 month, 50 - 100 mg/kg daily in divided doses four to eight hourly; maximum 150 mg/kg daily.
Contra Indications :  Known allergy to cephalosporins.
Special Precautions :  Penicillin sensitivity. Impaired renal function.
Interactions :  Loop diuretics, aminoglycosides. Loop diuretics, aminoglycosides.
Adverse Reactions :  Pain at injection site, hypersensitivity reactions. GI disturbances, candidosis, eosinophilia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, rise in liver enzymes and blood urea. Transient hepatitis, cholestatic jaundice. Positive Coomb's test.
