| Drug description : | 3 Powder. |
| Presentation : | Powder, polyethylene glycol 59g, sodium sulphate 5.685g, sodium bicarbonate 1.685g, sodium chloride 1.465g, potassium chloride 0.7425g (on reconstitution: Na+ 125 mmol/l, K+ 10 mmol/l, SO - 40 mmol/l, Cl- 35 mmol/l, HCO 4 - 20 mmol/l). |
| Indications : | Bowel clearance prior to colonoscopy, radiography, surgery. |
| Adult Dosage : | Reconstitute 1 sachet in 1 litre of water and drink 250 mL every 10 - 15 minutes until rectal effluent clear or 4 litre dose consumed. Alternatively, 20 - 30 mL per minute by nasogastric tube. |
| Child Dosage : | Not recommended. |
| Contra Indications : | GI obstruction or perforation, ileus, gastric retention, acute intestinal or gastric ulceration, intestinal or gastric ulceration, toxic colitis, megacolon. Body- weight under 20 kg. |
| Special Precautions : | Pregnancy. Impaired gag reflex, reflux oesophagitis, diminished levels of consciousness. Ulcerative colitis. |
| Interactions : | Oral medication should be given at least 1 hour prior to administration. |
| Adverse Reactions : | Nausea, abdominal distension, cramps, vomiting, anal irritation. Rarely, allergic reactions. |
