Capsules, ketoprofen 200mg . Available from APS (Ketovail R ), Ashbourne (Ketozip R XL 200), Cox (Jomethid R XL), Galen (KetotardR XL), Goldshield (KetpronR ), Hillcross, Lagap (LarafenR CR), Opus (FenoketR ). |
| Indications : | Rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthrosis, ankylosing spondylitis, acute articular and peri-articular disorders, cervical spondylitis, low back pain, painful musculoskeletal conditions, dysmenorrhoea, acute gout, post-operative pain following orthopaedic surgery. |
| Adult Dosage : | Rheumatic disease, 100 - 200mg in two to four divided doses with food. Pain and dysmenorrhoea, 50mg three times daily with food. Sustained release preparations, 100 - 200mg once daily with food. |
| Child Dosage : | Not recommended. |
| Contra Indications : | Aspirin/anti-inflammatory induced allergy, asthma. Severe renal dysfunction. Active peptic ulcer or history of recurrent dyspepsia or peptic ulceration. Pregnancy and lactation. Coagulation defects. |
| Special Precautions : | Renal impairment, monitor on long term therapy; heart failure; elderly. Bronchial asthma or allergic disease. |
| Interactions : | Anticoagulants, sulphonamides, hydantoins, aspirin, other NSAIDs, high dose methotrexate. |
| Adverse Reactions : | Gastrointestinal effects including indigestion, dyspepsia, nausea, constipation, diarrhoea, heartburn, thrombocytopenia and abdominal discomfort. Less commonly, headache, dizziness, mild confusion, vertigo, drowsiness, oedema, mood change, insomnia. Rarely, peptic ulceration, haemorrhage or perforation. |
