| Generic Name : | Interferon gamma-1b |
| Drug description : | Solution in vial. |
| Presentation : | Injection, interferon gamma-1b 100 microgram s (equivalent to 3 x 10 6) per 0.5 mL. |
| Indications : | As an adjunct to antibiotics to reduce the frequency of serious infections in patients with chronic granulomatous disease (GLD). |
| Adult Dosage : | Recommended dose is 50 micrograms/m 2 or 1.5 micrograms/ kg/dose for patients whose body surface area is 0.5m 2 or less, to be given by subcutaneous injection three times a week. |
| Child Dosage : | Under 6 months, not recommmended. |
| Contra Indications : | Patients who develop or have known acute hypersensitivity to interferon gamma or known hypersensitivity to closely related interferons. Lactation. |
| Special Precautions : | Serious liver disease, severe renal insufficiency. Known seizure disorders and/or seizure disorders and/or compromised central nervous system function. Pre-existing cardiac disease. Pregnancy. See Summary of Product Characteristics. |
| Interactions : | Refer to Summary of Product Characteristics. |
| Adverse Reactions : | Most commonly, fever, headache, chills, myalgia or fatigue which may increase in severity as treatment continues. Also, vomiting, nausea, arthralgia and injection site tenderness. |
