| Indications : | Essential hypertension. |
| Adult Dosage : | One tablet in the morning. |
| Contra Indications : | Severe heaptic impairment, recent cardiovascular accident. Known history of allergy to sulphonamide derivatives. |
| Special Precautions : | Progressive renal impairment (discontinue). Monitor serum potassium and urate levels in patients at risk. Pregnancy. |
| Interactions : | Diuretics, antiarrhythmics, lithium. |
| Adverse Reactions : | Hypokalaemia, headache, dizziness, fatigue, muscular cramps, nausea, anorexia, diarrhoea, constipation, dyspepsia and rash. Rarely, orthostatic hypotension, palpitations, raised liver enzymes, blood dyscrasias, hyponatraemia, metabolic alkalosis, hyperglycaemia, photosensitivity, impotence, erythema multiforme, paraesthesia, raised blood urate levels, renal insufficiency and reversible myopia. |
