| Drug description : | Suspension for injection in a glass pre-filled syringe. |
| Presentation : | Suspension for injection, combined inactivated hepatitis A (HM175 hepatitis A strain) and purified Vi polysaccharide typhoid vaccine (extracted from Salmonella typhi Ty2 strain). Each 1mL dose contains 25 microgram s of the Vi polysaccharide of Salmonella typhi and not less than 1,440 ELISA units (EL.U) of inactivated hepatitis A viral antigen. |
| Indications : | Active immunisation against hepatitis A virus infection and typhoid fever for both adults and adolescents 15 years of age and older. |
| Adult Dosage : | Administer by intramuscular injection in the deltoid region. Primary vaccination: A single dose of 1mL given at least two weeks prior to risk of exposure to typhoid and preferably one month prior to exposure to hepatitis A. exposure to hepatitis A. Booster vaccination: A booster dose of hepatitis A vaccine is recommended any time between six and 12 months after a single dose of Hepatyrix in order to ensure long term protection against hepatitis A. Hepatyrix may also be given as a single dose of 1mL for booster vaccination between six and 12 months following primary immunisation with hepatitis A vaccine. Subjects who remain at risk of typhoid fever should be re- vaccinated using a single dose of Vi polysaccharide vaccine, every three years. |
| Child Dosage : | Not recommended under 15 years of age. |
| Contra Indications : | Known hypersensitivity to any component of the vaccine, or subjects having shown hypersensitivity after previous administration of Hepatyrix or monovalent vaccines Typherix and Havrix. |
| Special Precautions : | Postpone vaccination in acute severe febrile illness. Use with caution in patients with hypersensitivity to neomycin. Pregnancy and lactation. See Summary of Product Characteristics. |
| Adverse Reactions : | Injection site reactions, including pain, erythema and swelling. Systemic effects including malaise, headache, general aches, nausea, itching and fever. Very rarely, allergic reactions. |
