| Drug description : | 50mg: White f-c scored tablet marked S and 291. 100 mg white oval f-c scored tablet marked S and 313. |
| Presentation : | Tablets, fluvoxamine maleate 50mg , 100mg . |
| Indications : | Treatment of symptoms of depressive illness. Obsessive compulsive disorder. |
| Adult Dosage : | Initially 100 mg in the evening. Usual maintenance 100 - 200 mg daily in divided doses; maximum 300 mg daily. If no improvement of OCD within 10 weeks, review. |
| Child Dosage : | Not recommended. |
| Contra Indications : | Within 2 weeks of stopping MAOIs or within one day of stopping moclobemide. Hypersensitivity to any component of the product. |
| Special Precautions : | Hepatic or renal insufficiency. History of epilepsy. History of mania/hypomania. Bleeding disorders. Diabetes. Withdraw gradually. Pregnancy, lactation. |
| Interactions : | Propranolol, theophylline, aminophylline, phenytoin, carbamazepine, benzodiazepines, warfarin, MAOIs, tricyclics, clozapine, alcohol, lithium, tryptophan. Drugs affecting platelet function. Serotonergic drugs (eg, tramadol, sumatriptan) . St John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum ). |
| Adverse Reactions : | Nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, diarrhoea, constipation, headache, malaise, palpitations, sweating, anorexia, somnolence, anxiety, nervousness, agitation, tremor, convulsions, tachycardia. See SPC for rarer side effects. |
