| Presentation : | Powder for injection, vindesine sulphate 5 mg . |
| Indications : | WARNING: NOT FOR INTRATHECAL USE For intravenous use alone or in combination with other oncolytic drugs. Suggested that as a single agent maybe useful for treatment of: acute lymphoblastic leukaemia of childhood resistant to other drugs; blastic crises of chronic myeloid leukaemia; malignant melanoma unresponsive to other forms of therapy; advanced carcinoma of the breast, unresponsive to appropriate endocrine surgery and/or hormonal therapy. |
| Adult Dosage : | For intravenous adminstration only - fatal if given intrathecally. Refer to Summary of Product Characteristics. |
| Child Dosage : | For intravenous adminstration only - fatal if given intrathecally. Refer to Summary of Product Characteristics. of Product Characteristics. |
| Contra Indications : | Intrathecal use (fatal). Use in patients with drug-induced granulocytopenia (less than 1,500 granulocytes per mm 3 or severe thrombocytopenia. Must not be used in presence of bacterial infection. Demyelinating form of Charcot-Marie-Tooth syndrome. |
| Special Precautions : | Intrathecal administration has resulted in death. To be administered only by individuals experienced in vindesine administration. Pregancy and lactation. Refer to Summary of Product Characteristics. |
| Adverse Reactions : | Most commonly, alopecia. Also, GI effects (including nausea, vomiting, constipation, stomatitis), neurological effects (including paraesthesia, peripheral neuritis), granulocytopenia (usually the dose-limiting factor), thrombocytopenia, thrombocytosis, mild anaemia. Maculopaular rash, generalised musculoskeletal pain, malaise, chills and fevers, asthenia. |
