Medicine information : EMADINE
 
Drug class description :  Antihistamines.
Generic Name :  Emedastine difumarate
Drug description :  Eye drops.
Presentation :  Eye drops, emedastine 0.05% in a 5mL drop-tainer dispenser.
Indications :  Symptomatic treatment of seasonal allergic conjunctivitis.
Adult Dosage :  Instil one drop into the affected eye twice daily.
Child Dosage :  Children three years and above as adult dose.
Elderly Dosage :  Use in patients over 65 not recommended. recommended.
Contra Indications :  Hypersensitivity to emedastine or other components of preparation. Pregnancy and lactation.
Special Precautions :  If transient blurred vision occurs, wait until clear vision resumes before driving or operating machinary. Discontinue if corneal infiltrates occur. The preservative Benzalkonium chloride has been reported to cause punctate and or ulcerative keratopathy. An interval of 10 minutes should be allowed between application of Emadine and other opthalmic preparations.
Adverse Reactions :  Burning stinging on instillation. Dry eye, ocular hyperaemia, occular pruritis, blurred vision, corneal staining, lid margin crusting and or oedema, conjunctivitis, keratitis, eye fatigue, irritation, photophobia. Occasional non occular events include headache, cold syndrome, rhinitis, pain and back pain.
