Den aktive formen av folsyre er 5-metyltetrahydrofolat. Nødvendig for normal vekst. Det har vært fokusert på mulig sammenheng mellom folsyremangel hos gravide og ryggmargsbrokk hos nyfødte. |

TABLETTER 0,4 mg: Hver tablett inneh.: Acid. folic. 0,4 mg, lactos., const. q.s. |
| Indications : | Etablert folsyremangel ved feilernæring, eller tilstander som medfører økt behov, f.eks. før og under graviditet, nedsatt utnyttelse eller økt nedbrytning av folsyre. Profylaktisk mot folsyremangel ved de samme tilstander. |
| Adult Dosage : | Voksne: 1 tablett daglig. Før planlagt graviditet tas 1 tablett daglig. Behandlingen fortsetter i 3 måneder etter oppstått graviditet. |
| Elderly Dosage : | Se Indikasjoner. Overgang i morsmelk: Kan brukes ved amming. |
| Special Precautions : | Folsyre bør ikke gis alene eller med utilstrekkelige mengder av vitamin B 12 for behandling av udiagnostisert megaloblastisk anemi. Folsyretilførsel kan maskere pernisiøs anemi grunnet mangel på vitamin B 12 . |
| Interactions : | Folsyre kombinert med fenytoin gir nedsatt effekt av fenytoin og kan derfor utløse epileptiske anfall. |
