| Drug description : | Coated tablets. |
| Presentation : | Tablets, exemestane 25mg . |
| Indications : | Treatment of advanced breast cancer in women with natural or induced postmenopausal status whose disease has progressed following anti-oestrogen therapy. Efficacy has not been demonstrated in patients with oestrogen receptor negative status. |
| Adult Dosage : | 25mg once daily preferably after a meal. Treatment should continue until tumour progression is evident. |
| Child Dosage : | Not recommended. |
| Contra Indications : | Known hypersensitivity to the active substance or any of the excipients. Premenopausal women. Pregnancy and lactation. |
| Special Precautions : | Should not be administered to women with premenopausal endocrine status. Hepatic or endocrine status. Hepatic or renal impairment. |
| Interactions : | Caution with drugs metabolised via CYP3A4 with a narrow therapeutic window. No clinical experience of the concomitant use of Aromasin with other anticancer drugs. Oestrogen-containing medicines. |
| Adverse Reactions : | Hot flushes, nausea. Also, fatigue, increased sweating and dizziness. Less commonly, headache, insomnia, pain, skin rash, abdominal pain, anorexia, vomiting, depression, alopecia, peripheral or leg oedema, constipation and dyspepsia. |
