| Drug description : | 1mg pink tablets; 2mg green tablets; 3mg yellow tablets; 4mg blue tablets. All oblong and scored. |
| Presentation : | Tablets, glimepiride 1mg , 2mg , 3mg , 4mg . |
| Indications : | Non insulin dependent (type II) diabetes. |
| Adult Dosage : | Initially 1 mg daily at breakfast. If necessary increase at 1 - 2 week intervals to 2 - 4 mg daily. Maximum 6 mg daily. |
| Child Dosage : | Not applicable. |
| Contra Indications : | unstable brittle diabetes, ketoacidosis, severe renal and liver insufficiency, endocrine disorders, stress, Pregnancy, lactation. |
| Special Precautions : | Renal failure. |
| Interactions : | b-blockers, MAOIs, corticosteroids, corticotropin (corticotrophin), diuretics, oral contraceptives, alcohol (acetohexamide, chlorpropamide and metformin). Bezafibrate, clofibrate, oral anticoagulants, aspirin, phenylbutazone, cyclophosphamide, rifampicin, sulphonamides, chloramphenicol, glucagon. |
