Age of onset

The perceived average age of onset of ADHD ranges from 5.2 years in France to 7.3 years in Spain (Figure).1 However, both DSM-IV and ICD-10 diagnostic criteria specify that some symptoms of ADHD must be present in the patient before the age of 7 years. Therefore, the perceived average age of onset may be greater than the age at initial symptom occurrence.1
