NICE to recommend Botox (Allergan) for Migraine - 11-May-2012

NICE,the health technology appraisal institute for England and Wales, will now recommend Botox (botulinum toxin type A) injections from Allergan, as a preventative treatment for Chronic Migraine, in its final draft guidance. NICE was undecided about the drug and one area of concern was that the data supporting Botox were confounded by a large placebo effect. Allergan have provided more data and now Botox could soon become a NHS treatment option to prevent headaches in adults who experience Chronic Migraine.
