Capsules, danazol 100 mg , 200 mg . Available from Cox, Generics UK, Hillcross, Norton (200mg only), Sterwin. - Description
Capsules. - Indications
Dysfunctional uterine bleeding presenting as menorrhagia. - Adult Dosage
200 mg daily for 3 months. Start on 1st day of menstruation and continue without interruption. - Child Dosage
Not recommended. - Elderly Dosage
Not recommended. - Contra Indications
Pregnancy; use barrier contraception, withdraw therapy if patient conceives. Lactation, porphyria, severe hepatic, cardiac or renal dysfunction, thromboembolic disease, androgen dependent tumour, undiagnosed abnormal vaginal bleeding.
- Special Precautions
Epilepsy, migraine, hepatic or renal disease, hypertension or renal disease, hypertension or other cardiovascular disease, history of thromboembolic disease, lipoprotein disorders, states exacerbated by fluid retention, polycythaemia, diabetes, known or suspected malignancy, androgenic reactions to previous gonadal steroid therapy. Monitor patient, hepatic function, haematology; withdraw if androgenic reactions, symptoms of raised intracranial pressure, liver dysfunction or thrombosis occur.

Anticonvulsants, hypoglycaemics, anticoagulants, antihypertensives, cyclosporin, tacrolimus, steroids, migraine therapy, alcohol, alfacalcidol. - Adverse Drug Reactions
Nausea, dizziness, rash, backache, flushing, muscle spasm, androgenic effects, menstrual disturbances, fluid retention, headache, emotional lability, cholestatic jaundice, benign intracranial hypertension, cardiovascular reactions, haematological and thyroid effects, pancreatitis.
