HAELAN
- Drug Class Description
Moderately potent corticosteroids (topical steroids). - Generic Name
Flurandrenolone [fludroxycortide] - Presentation
Haelan: Flurandrenolone 0.0125%. Haelan Tape: Translucent, polythene adhesive film impregnated with flurandrenolone 4 micrograms per square cm. - Description
Haelan: cream and ointment. - Indications
Haelan: Steroid responsive dermatoses.
Haelan Tape: Adjunctive therapy for chronic recalcitrant dermatoses.
- Adult Dosage
Apply two or three times daily.
Haelan Tape: Apply to clean, dry, shorn skin, usually for 12 hour periods.
- Contra Indications
Use on acne (including rosacea), peri-oral dermatitis, scabies, leg ulcers, tuberculous, ringworm or viral skin disease.
Untreated or viral skin disease. Untreated fungal or bacterial infections. Extensive or prolonged use in pregnancy. Continuous prophylactic use.
- Special Precautions
Limit use in children or on face to maximum 5 days. In infants, napkins and plastic pants may act as occlusive. Monitor use in psoriasis. Withdraw gradually after prolonged use.
- Adverse Drug Reactions
Cushingoid changes and adrenal suppression. Skin atrophy, striae and telangiectasia. Velus hair growth.
