Hepatitis B - Presentation
HB-Vax II: Hepatitis B surface antigen 10 microgram per mL adsorbed onto aluminium hydroxide. HB-Vax II 40: Hepatitis B surface antigen 40 microgram per mL adsorbed onto aluminium hydroxide. HB-Vax II Paediatric: Hepatitis B surface antigen 5 microgram per 0 .5 mL adsorbed onto aluminium hydroxide. - Description
HB-Vax II: suspension in pre- filled syringe or vial. HB-Vax II 40: suspension in vial. HB-Vax II Paediatric: suspension in pre-filled syringe. - Indications
HB-Vax II and HB-Vax II Paediatric: Active immunisation against hepatitis B virus. HB-Vax II 40: Active immunisation against hepatitis B virus in dialysis and predialysis dialysis and predialysis patients.
- Adult Dosage
HB-Vax II: 1 L by intramuscular injection into the deltoid muscle, repeated 1 month and 6 months later.
Rapid immunisation, 1 mL by intramuscular injection, repeated 1 month, 2 months and 12 months later. HB-Vax II 40: 1 mL by intramuscular injection into the deltoid muscle, repeated 1 month and 6 months later.
- Child Dosage
HB-Vax II and HB-Vax II Paediatric: Under 16 years, 0.5 mL by intramuscular injection into the deltoid muscle, repeated 1 month and 6 months later. Rapid immunisation, 0 .5 mL by intramuscular injection, repeated 1 month, 2 months and 12 months later. HB-Vax II 40: 1 mL by intramuscular injection into the deltoid muscle, repeated 1 month and 6 months later. - Contra Indications
Severe febrile infections. - Special Precautions
Dialysed or immunocompromised patients may need further doses. Severe cardiac or respiratory dysfunction. Pregnancy, lactation. - Adverse Drug Reactions
Mild transient local soreness, erythema and induration at injection site, low grade fever, malaise, rash, nausea, dizziness.
