ELECTROLADE (fluid loss)

• Drug Class Description
  Fluid and electrolyte replacements (electrolyte combinations).
• Generic Name
  Sodium chloride, potassium chloride, sodium bicarbonate - fluid and electrolyte replacement
• Presentation
  Powder, sodium chloride 236 mg, potassium chloride 300 mg, sodium bicarbonate 500 mg, glucose 4g.
• Description
  Plain, banana, melon, orange or blackcurrant flavoured powder.
• Indications
  Replacement of fluid and electrolyte loss.
• Adult Dosage
  1 - 2 sachets after every loose motion, maximum 16 in 24 hours. Reconstitute 1 sachet in 200 mL water.
• Child Dosage
  Under 2 years, 1 - 1 / times normal feed volumes; over 2 years, 1 sachet after every loose motion; maximum 12 in 24 hours.
• Contra Indications
  Renal impairment.
