Injection, salcatonin 100 i.u./ mL. - Description
1 mL ampoules or 2 mL multidose vial. - Indications
Paget's disease. Postmenopausal osteoporosis. Osteolytic hypercalcaemia of malignancy. Metastatic bone pain. - Adult Dosage
Paget's disease, 50 i.u. three times weekly to 100 i.u. daily in single or divided doses by subcutaneous or intramuscular injection.
Postmenopausal osteoporosis, 100 i.u. daily by subcutaneous or intramuscular injection. Patients should also receive 600 mg elemental calcium and 400 units vitamin D daily.
Hypercalcaemia, initially 400 i.u. six or eight hourly by subcutaneous or intramuscular injection; maximum 8 i.u./kg every 6 hours. Metastatic bone pain, 200 i.u.
Metastatic bone pain, 200 i.u. six hourly or 400 i.u. 12 hourly by subcutaneous or intramuscular injection for two days.

History of allergy - perform scratch test. Pregnancy and lactation. - Interactions
Cardiac glycosides. - Adverse Drug Reactions
Nausea, vomiting, flushing, tingling hands, unpleasant taste. Allergic reactions.
