ELANTAN (angina)

Isosorbide mononitrate - angina - Presentation
Tablets, isosorbide mononitrate 10 mg , 20 mg , 40 mg . - Description
White scored tablets marked E10, E20 or E40. - Indications
Prophylaxis of angina. - Adult Dosage
Initially, 10 mg twice daily.
Maintenance, usually 40-80 mg daily in two or three divided doses after meals; maximum 120mg daily.
- Contra Indications
Known sensitivity to nitrates. Acute myocardial infarction with low filling pressure, acute circulatory failure (shock, vascular collapse), or very low blood pressure. Avoid in patients with marked anaemia, head trauma, cerebral haemorrhage, severe hypotension, hypovolaemia.
- Special Precautions
Use with caution in hypothyroidism, hypothermia, malnutrition, severe liver or renal disease. Pregnacy and lactation. - Interactions
Some effects of alcohol may be potentiated. - Adverse Drug Reactions
Headache, flushes, dizziness.
