ARAMINE

Metaraminol - Presentation
Injection, metaraminol (as tartrate) 10mg/mL. - Description
Clear, colourless, sterile solution for injection in ampoules. - Indications
Treatment of acute hypotension due to loss of vasoconstrictor tone as may occur during spinal anaesthesia and as an adjunct to accepted remedial procedures. - Adult Dosage
Aramine Injection may be given by either intravenous infusion or direct intravenous injection. Refer to Summary of Product Characteristics. - Child Dosage
Not to be used in children. - Contra Indications
Aramine injection should not be used concurrently with cyclopropane or halothane anaesthesia, unless clinical circumstances demand it. Hypersensitivity to sulphites or any other component of product. Not to be used in children.

Pregnancy and lactation.
- Interactions
Digitalis, MAOIs. - Adverse Drug Reactions
Sinus or ventricular tachycardia, or other arrhythmias may occur, especially in patients with myocardial infarction. Rarely, abscess formation, tissue necrosis and sloughing may follow use of Aramine.
