EFFERCITRATE

  Alkalising agents.
• Generic Name
  Potassium Citrate Mixture
• Presentation
  Tablets, potassium citrate 1.5 g, citric acid 0.25 g (equivalent to 5 mL mist. pot. cit. in solution) .
• Description
  White effervescent tablets.
• Indications
  Cystitis.
• Adult Dosage
  2 tablets in water up to three times daily with meals.
• Child Dosage
  Under 1 year, not recommended; 1 - 6 years, half adult dose; 6 - 12 years, same as adult.
• Contra Indications
  Ulceration or obstruction of the small bowel.
• Special Precautions
  Impaired renal function.
• Interactions
  Potassium-sparing diuretics.
• Adverse Drug Reactions
  Hyperkalaemia. Gastric irritation. Mild diuresis.
