• Drug Class Description
  ACE inhibitors.
• Generic Name
  Trandolapril - hypertension
• Presentation
  Capsules, trandolapril 0.5mg , 1mg , 2mg .
• Description
  0.5 mg red/yellow capsule; 1 mg red/orange capsule; 2 mg red/red capsule.
• Indications
  

  Mild or moderate hypertension.

• Adult Dosage
  

  Initially 0 .5 mg once daily. Double dose at 2 - 4 week intervals.

  Maximum 4 mg single daily dose. Maintenance, usually 1 - 2 mg once daily.

  Discontinue diuretics 2 - 3 days before starting, resume later if required.

• Child Dosage
  Not recommended.
• Contra Indications
  Angioneurotic oedema: hereditary, idiopathic or related to previous ACE inhibitor therapy. Aortic stenosis or outflow obstruction. Pregnancy, lactation.
• Special Precautions
  Haemodialysis. Renal or hepatic impairment; monitor renal function before and during therapy. Congestive heart failure, salt or volume
• Interactions
  K+ sparing diuretics or K+ supplements, NSAIDs, lithium, antidiabetic agents, neuroleptics, tricyclic antidepressants, antihypertensives.
• Adverse Drug Reactions
  

  Cough, headache, asthenia, dizziness, rash. Symptomatic hypotension, palpitations. Rarely angioneurotic oedema, agranulocytosis, bone marrow depression.
