Tablets, atropine sulphate 600 micrograms. Available from CP. - Description
Tablets. - Indications
Relief of symptoms of GI spasm. - Adult Dosage
One or two tablets (0.6 - 1.2mg) at night. - Contra Indications
Closed angle glaucoma. Known hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation. Paralytic ileus. Pyloric stenosis. Obstructive uropathy (eg, that caused by prostatic enlargement). Myasthenia gravis (but may be used with anticholinesterases - see premedication entry).
- Special Precautions
Raised intraocular pressure. Fever. Pregnancy and lactation. Hyperthyroidism. Hepatic and renal disease. Reflux oesophagitis, diarrhoea, ulcerative colitis, acute myocardial infarction, hypertension, tachycardia.
- Adverse Drug Reactions
Constipation, urinary retention, Constipation, urinary retention, reduced bronchial secretions. Severe ataxia, restlessness, excitement and hallucinations. Other adverse effects may include a dry mouth with difficulty in swallowing and talking, flushing and a dry skin, transient bradycardia followed by tachycardia. Occasionally, confusion, giddiness, nausea and vomiting.
