Drug Class Description

ACE inhibitors / thiazide diuretics (thiazides).

Generic Name

Lisinopril, hydrochlorothiazide

Drug Description

Zestoretic 20: white tablets. Zestoretic 10: peach tablets.

Presentation

Zestoretic 20: Lisinopril (as dihydrate) 20mg, hydrochlorothiazide 12.5mg. Zestoretic 10: Lisinopril (as dihydrate) 10mg, hydrochlorothiazide 12.5mg.

Indications

Mild to moderate hypertension in patients stabilised on the individual components given in the same proportions.

Adult Dosage

1 daily. Maximum 2 daily.

Child Dosage

Not recommended.

Contra Indications

Anuria, angioneurotic oedema related to previous ACE inhibitor therapy, pregnancy, lactation.

Special Precautions

Fluid or electrolyte imbalance, ischaemic heart or cerebrovascular disease, haemodialysis, renal or hepatic impairment, gout/hyperuricaemia, diabetes, surgery/anaesthesia.

Interactions

K+-supplements, K+-sparing diuretics, lithium, NSAIDs, tubocurarine, hypoglycaemics.

Adverse Reactions

Dizziness, headache, cough, fatigue, hypotension, angioneurotic oedema, nausea, impotence, diarrhoea.
