Androgens.Generic Name
MesteroloneDrug Description
Each tablet contains 25mg mesterolone.Presentation
Tablets.Indications
Androgen deficiency or male infertility when associated with primary or secondary male hypogonadism.Adult Dosage
The following dosages are recommended:
Adults:
Initially: 3 or 4 tablets daily for several months, followed by maintenance therapy of 2-3 tablets (50-75mg) daily
Child Dosage
Not applicable. Not applicable.Contra Indications
Pro- -viron is contraindicated in the presence of prostatic carcinoma since androgens can stimulate the growth of an existing carcinoma. Previous or existing liver tumours. Hypersensitivity to the active substances or to any of the excipients.
Special Precautions
Androgens are not suitable for enhancing muscular development in healthy individuals or for increasing physical ability. Regular examination of the prostate during treatment is advised, in order to exclude prostatic carcinoma.
In rare cases benign, and in even rarer cases, malignant liver tumours leading in isolated cases to life
threatening intra-abdominal haemorrhage have been observed after the use of hormonal substances such as the one contained in Pro - viron. If severe upper abdominal complaints, liver enlargement or signs of intra-abdominal haemorrhage occur, the possibility of a liver tumour should be included in the differential diagnosis.
Frequent or persistent erections of the penis may occur

Liver inducing enzymes.Adverse Reactions
If, in individual cases, frequent or persistent erections occur, the dose should be discontinued in order to avoid injury to the penis.

Bydureon reduces cardiovascular risk factors in Type 2 Diabetes patients Diabetes and Endocrinology Page
Patients receiving Bydureon (exenatide extended release), a drug for Type 2 Diabetes from Amylin, Eli Lilly and Alkermes experienced significant improvements in specific cardiovascular risk factors compared to patients who received more commonly prescribed treatments. The results show that patients receiving Bydureon experienced improvements related to body weight, abnormal blood pressure and abnormal lipid levels. The analysis from the DURATION-3 trial demonstrated statistically significant reduction in body weight of 9.8 pounds compared to conventional treatment. The analysis of the DURATION-4 trial reveals the patients reached a composite endpoint of A1C <7 percent plus target systolic blood pressure (<130 mmHg) and target LDL cholesterol (<100 mg/dL) (16 percent for Bydureon vs. 10 percent for Actos, 7 percent for Januvia and 13 percent for metformin. These findings will be presented at the 47th European Association for the Study of Diabetes Annual Meeting 2011.
TAK 875 a new treatment for Type 2 Diabetes enters Phase III Diabetes and Endocrinology Page
TAK 875 from Takeda is a new selective agonist of the G-protein-coupled receptor (GPR 40)which is expressed in pancreatic islet beta cells. The drug has entered Phase III studies in Japan for Type 2 Diabetes and Phase III trials are commencing in the USA and EU. Phase II data showed a significant lower incidence of hypoglycaemia compared to placebo and to glimepiride and positive efficacy.
